The G2A5 Battle Rifle, or simply the G2A5 or G2, is a semi-automatic battle rifle manufactured by Lastimosa Armory. It appears in Titanfall 2.

History[]

The G2A5 emerges after the Battle of Demeter as a successor to the G2A4. As the previous iteration was popular among pilots who wanted to have more versatility at ranges between the ARs and Snipers, another model was made. The changes made to the weapon have been minor, with upgrades to its rear diopter and ergonomic improvements.

After the events of Titanfall 2, the G2A5 was replaced by the G7 Scout.

Design and performance[]

The G2A5 chambers a hefty 6.19x97mm round, and boasts extremely high damage against infantry targets as a result. Its high damage, in comparison with its match trigger makes the gun formidable from any range - the only limit on rate of fire is how fast the user can pull the trigger.

However, the major fault with the G2 is its hip-fire accuracy; its large reticule means the G2 rifle cannot keep up with close range guns like the Mastiff, EVA or submachine guns. Nonetheless, it is one of the most effective tools in the Titanfall 2 armory, and a dominating presence on the battlefield.

The Crack Shot banner can be unlocked by using the G2A5.

Field notes[]

  • Don't be fooled. the view-kick doesn't represent the actual recoil of the weapon.
  • All bullets hit where the red dot of this weapon's sight is pointed.
  • As with the previous iteration, keep a distance when using this weapon and avoid going up close.

Strengths[]

  • Negligible recoil
  • versatile at mid-long ranges
  • faster firerate than other Snipers
  • Heavier hitting than other ARs

Weaknesses[]

  • Slower firerate than other ARs
  • significant view-kick
  • loses out in CQB to submachine guns and shotguns
  • Damage falloff at far ranges makes it lose to snipers.

Trivia[]

  • As with the G2A4 Rifle, the G2A5 is inspired by the real-world M14 EBR,[2] however this one ditches the rail system over the ejection port.
  • Ryan Lastimosa (as seen at the top of this article) directly quotes Obi-Wan Kenobi, calling the rifle an "elegant weapon for a more civilized time."
